Chhoeurn Vuthy, M.D. – Executive Director
Dr Chhoeurn Vuthy is a renowned paediatric orthopaedic surgeon based in Cambodia. He completed his medical basic sciences, general surgery and traumatology qualifications at the University of Health Sciences in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He then proceeded to complete his traumatology-orthopaedic qualification at Gasthuisberg Hospital and Katholic University Hospital in Leuven, Belgium.
Dr Vuthy is the current President of the Cambodian Society of Traumatology and Orthopaedics (SOCOT), Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery and the Trauma-Orthopaedic Unit at National Paediatric Hospital, Phnom Penh, and is the Professor of Surgery at the University of Health Sciences. He is also heavily involved in a number of other institutions. Other present appointments include: Secretary General of the Cambodian Society of Paediatric Surgery, Member of steering committee of the Cambodian Society of Surgery, Executive Director of NextSteps Organization, Co-Director of Development Cambodia by Degree (NGO), and member of the Board of Trustees for Exceed, Cambodia Trust. Dr Vuthy was previously the President of the Asean Society of Paediatric Surgery (2011–2012). He was previously appointed a visiting fellow in Tapei, Taiwan (2002), in Springfield, USA (2006), and at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane (2008).
Colleen Orange – Director
Colleen Orange started the Connecting with Cambodia initiative in 2010 with her friend Leanne Yost and together they have raised around $40,000 to help fund medical treatment for children in Cambodia. Colleen is a qualified Accountant and works as the Chief Financial Officer for a department of the Queensland State Government in Brisbane, Australia. Colleen has more than 30 years experience working for a range of public and private sector organisations in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Colleen has a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane and is a Fellow, CPA Australia.
John Orange – Director
John Orange is a Non Executive Director and Consultant He has been a Non Executive Director since 1997 on the Boards of more than 12 different publicly and privately owned businesses. John also works as a Consultant specialising in commercial structuring of government owned entities, mergers and asset transfers, governance frameworks, and financial management. Qualified in Law and Accountancy at Victoria University in New Zealand, John has had more than 15 years in Senior Management roles and has worked in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Pacific, Asia, Middle East, and Africa. John is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Accountant.
Him Rotha – Head of Administration & Finance Him Rotha is qualified in law, a graduate of the Royal University of Law and Economics which is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Cambodia. Rotha is currently enrolled in the Advanced Business English Program (BEP) and the General English Program at ACE. From 2007 to 2014 Rotha was Program Coordinator for Cure Clubfoot Cambodia and prior to that was Khmer language tutor for foreigners at CAMA Services and taught Mathematics and English to youth as part of Project Future. Rotha grew up and went to school in Battambang at Net Yang High School and now lives in Phnom Penh with her Husband and two children.
Leanne Yost – Communications and Media Leanne Yost is from Melbourne, a keen amateur photographer and avid traveller. Leanne and Colleen first travelled to Cambodia in 2005 where their passion for the country and it’s people ignited. Leanne now travels annually to Cambodia, always spending time to visit Dr Vuthy, the hospital, the children and their families. Leanne worked with Colleen Orange to set up the Connecting with Cambodia initiative in 2010 and has been responsible for developing and maintaining its Facebook page. Leanne’s beautiful photography supports our activities and she is instrumental in raising funds for our programs.
